What Others Are Saying About Fixing You Books
If you want to know WHY your back hurts - this is the only book that will tell you not only how to fix the pain, but why it hurts. Doesn't matter if it's an old injury, or you've already had back surgery, or some other excuse, Rick will help you to feel better. He saved me from being an invalid because of pain when physiatrists, PTs, and doctors could not help at all.
-- Amazon review for Fixing You: Back Pain, 2nd edition
I had, in the Fall of 2007, been on 3 antibiotics for what was assumed to be a sinus infection, then a negative sinus CT, visit to an ENT which included scoping up my nose, CT of my brain, an MRI and MRA of my brain, an MRI of my neck, onto a neurologist who insisted I had migraines, despite my telling her it was not a headache I have, but head pain (there is a difference), physical therapy appointments which caused increased pain due to aggressive massaging of trigger points, many chiropractic visits which did offer some relief, 4 months of yoga, and acupuncture which brings me to Dec. of 2009. I was just past Monday suffering from depression and despair thinking that this would be the rest of my life. I am 52 years old and before this in great health. Yours was the 4th book I have purchased on neck pain, but the only one that even mentioned the scapula and shoulder as being a probable cause.

After two and a half years of severe pain on the left side of my head, around my left eye and a weird, extreme feeling of discomfort deep in my nose (a symptom I have not come across despite all my research, doctor's visits, etc) I read your book, did the all fours rocking stretch numerous times just this past Wednesday and the hand on head position, and now Saturday I am on day 4 of living pain free.

I did most of the exercises for the first time yesterday. Today I looked at a few of his on-line videos and did all of the exercises in the book. I can't believe how good my neck feels! It hasn't felt this loose and pain-free in many, many years...as far back as I can remember, practically.

This book explains what's happening with your hips, has some good drawings to explain the issue and some simple exercises. I've had this hip issue (and knee problems) for years and I tried all kinds of stuff, including physical therapy, yoga, Pilates etc. This book is what finally took me from frustration to healing. Make no mistake, your hip may be out because of bad habits, or from an injury and the longer you've lived with your problem, the longer it will take to get better. But don't give up! It's so worth it!

I'm almost giddy with delight. For over a year I have been unable to do the things I need to do. Today (glorious sunny breezy weather) I washed the several windows outside by the deck, then painted them (with hubby's help of course); I'm making adzuki bean/black-eyed pea soup; doing several loads of laundry; and sewing a hooded baby towel for a co-worker's new baby girl. All the while I'm stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, sitting, standing and doing whatever I need to do while remembering to hold in my tummy, align my pelvis, lengthen my neck, roll up my back when standing starting at the pelvis, etc. - with NO PAIN!!!!! Oh, I'm getting a little sore from all the work, but it feels good. My husband thanks you; I thank you. We love you! Ruth

I've spent an awfully large amount of time and money, consumed wheelbarrows full of remedies, and ointments, and gone through the paces of standard physical therapy for a previously persistent case of tennis elbow. By simply doing the very first exercise Rick Olderman recommends in "Fixing You: Shoulder & Elbow Pain," I've experienced relief from pain.
After having tried a number of other things, I was initially skeptical that there would be anything new or useful here. All I can do, is emphatically tell anyone who is suffering from tennis elbow to give this book, and more importantly, the exercises and stretches within, an honest try. The book also contains a link to an invaluable bonus. At the author's website, there is a wonderful collection of videos that properly demonstrate the recommended exercises.
